Pavel Brázda (1926-2017) was born in Brno. In 1943, he founded his own direction here called hominism, the art of people and for people. After two semesters of art history and philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno and two semesters at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, he moved to the 3rd semester of the Academy of Fine Arts, where he became close with his future wife, the painter Věra Nováková. At the beginning of 1949, together with her, he was expelled from studies at all schools for political reasons and assigned to work manually as an apprentice in room painting. In the years 1950–52, he graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and was allowed to make a living from applied art as a so-called professional artist. He was never a member of the Communist Union of Czechoslovak, Later Czech Fine Artists, nor did he report there. Since 1977 he has been a heating engineer in a coke boiler room for 10 years, and since 1997 he has been a pensioner. He began exhibiting normally in the 1990s.
