Petr Bařinka is a multimedia visual artist who graduated in the studio of the Czech sculptor Kurt Gebauer at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and then developed his visual concepts within the doctoral program in the painting studio of prof. Ivan Csudai at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, where he dealt with visual schemes of modernism and digital image. His work uses a whole range of current techniques from painting through sculpture, photography, film, to digital printing and animation. He is constantly experimenting with various materials and techniques such as embroidery, etc.
Behind the diversity of material forms of his works, there is always a clearly recognizable author's handwriting. In his work, he combines seemingly naive fairy-tale elements with more serious themes related to memory, unconsciousness, fear, fantasy. In other words, the author realizes images that are imprinted on his memory, as well as on other people.
In 2009 he won the prestigious National Gallery Award in Prague NG 333 for artists under 33 and in 2015 he was awarded by the international jury with the VIG Special Invitation, awarded within the prestigious art competition ESSL ART AWARD.
